Breaking Free From Pornography and Sexual Compulsions
You’ve probably already tried to white-knuckle this. An accountability app, a promise to your wife, a fresh start on a Monday that didn’t survive the week. None of that makes you weak — it just means you’ve been fighting a habit with willpower alone, and willpower alone almost never wins against something this deeply wired.
Pornography and sexual compulsions rarely show up out of nowhere. Underneath the behavior there’s usually a story: something that happened, something that didn’t get processed, a way of coping that worked when you were younger and quietly took over. I’ve lived that story myself, which is part of why this work matters so much to me — I’m not guessing at what this feels like from the outside.
What we actually do together
We start by getting honest about what’s really going on — not just the behavior, but what’s underneath it. From there I build a recovery plan specific to you, drawing on AASAT-trained addiction recovery methods, narrative-focused trauma work, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and a faith-rooted approach to healing for those who want that included. Part of what I bring to this work is an understanding of the neuroscience behind addiction — how compulsive patterns actually take hold in the brain, and what it takes to interrupt them. That matters, because shame and willpower alone rarely change wiring that’s been reinforced for years. Some men do this one-on-one. Others find that group work — sitting in a room with other men carrying the same weight — is what finally breaks the isolation that kept the habit alive. I offer both, in person in Colorado Springs or online.
Who this is for
Men who are tired of the cycle and ready to do something different. Husbands whose wives found out and need a real plan, not just an apology. Guys who’ve known for years something was off and have never said it out loud to another person. If that’s you, you don’t have to have the right words yet. You just have to be willing to start.
